Brands do not need to specify a temperature without technical evidence, but they should ensure that the approved formula, pack and production method are reviewed together.

Why some cosmetics are filled warm
Certain balms, wax-rich products or viscous formulas may need controlled warmth to flow through equipment and settle into the pack. Other products are filled near ambient conditions. The appropriate route depends on composition, process design, package material and equipment.
Packaging questions to resolve
- What temperature range can the container, pump, gasket and decoration tolerate?
- Can the component shrink, warp or lose dimensional fit during cooling?
- Will a label, coating or adhesive be applied before or after the pack cools?
- Does headspace or product contraction affect appearance?
- When can the closure be applied without creating leakage or pressure issues?
Measure the product, not only the vessel
The temperature shown on a tank display may not equal the product temperature at the filling nozzle or inside the container. A production brief can define where and when the relevant measurement is taken.
Cooling is part of the process
After filling, the product may need a controlled hold before capping, labeling, cartoning or inspection. Cooling too quickly or unevenly can affect surface appearance in some formats. Moving the pack too soon may also create spills or decoration marks.
